FAQ
YVIP 95% FOS Prebiotic Syrup — Quick FAQ
Q: What is FOS, and where does it come from?
FOS (fructooligosaccharides) is a prebiotic dietary fiber produced from plant-based carbohydrates.
It is not sugar and is not digested like sugar. Instead, it helps nourish beneficial gut bacteria.
Q: Which plant is your FOS derived from?
In our product, sugarcane is used as the plant-based carbohydrate source.
Sucrose from sugarcane is enzymatically converted into FOS through a controlled process.
Q: Does this product contain sugarcane juice or sugar?
No. Although sugarcane is used as the starting material, the final ingredient is a non-digestible dietary fiber.
It does not contain sugarcane juice and does not function like sugar in the body.
Q: Why choose sugarcane instead of chicory root?
Sugarcane is chosen because sucrose from sugarcane can be enzymatically converted in a controlled way
to produce high-purity fructooligosaccharides, especially short-chain FOS such as GF2.
This results in a cleaner taste and a highly standardized product.
Q: How is sugarcane-based FOS different from chicory-based FOS?
Chicory root typically produces a mixture of inulin and longer-chain fructans.
Using sugarcane-derived sucrose allows targeted enzymatic conversion, resulting in ~95% FOS
with a high GF2 content (>60%), which is difficult to achieve with chicory-based extracts.
